30/30 Tax Credit for Efficient Windows

30/30 Rule
Under the 2009 Stimulus Act, Congress granted to each homeowner a tax credit up to $1500 for energy efficient home improvements including windows that meet the “30/30 Rule”. To qualify for this credit, window frames and glass together must have a U-value of 0.30 or less and a SHGC of 0.30 or less.

Power*e™ Glass Windows Test Results Satisfy the 30/30 Rule
Unlike most other windows, Power*e™ Glass used in qualifying insulated frames should easily satisfy the 30/30 Rule because the KSU tests proved that Power*e™ Glass far exceeds the U-value of 0.30 or less. Almost all other double and triple paned windows cannot meet this test. And by combining the Pilkington TEC-15 glass (inside glass) with another low-e glass (outside glass), the Power*e™ Glass has a SHGC of 0.30 or less.

These results are those given to RGI when its Power*e™ Glass was tested and by the stated performance capabilities of the TEC-15 Glass. RGI cannot advise anyone as to how the 30/30 Rule or Stimulus Act will applied and cannot warrant that the tax credit will be granted.
