Radiant Heat and Comfort

Power*e™ Glass windows provide comfort at lower room air temperatures by increasing the radiant heat in the room.  You truly can feel the heat from the Power*e™ Glass. It works by directly warming you and other objects in the room - not by heating the air. Additionally, the heated Power*e™ Glass stops all of the heat otherwise lost through the windows from the interior - essentially giving the windows a higher R-value than other windows.

Radiant heat is not new.
Water and steam radiators have been used to heat buildings for years.  However,
Power*e™ Glass windows improve upon other systems because their profile room view “sees” and warms all of you and stops building heat loss through the heated windows.

Like the light from a lamp,
Power*e™ Glass windows quickly cast a warm heat that is absorbed and re-radiated until all of the occupants and room surfaces become evenly comfortable.

How Power*e™ Glass can Work for You

Many studies have confirmed that thermal comfort is determined by a combination of radiant heat and air temperature in a room - air temperature alone is not enough. Thus radiant heating systems such as Power*e™ Glass windows can keep you warm and comfortable by increasing the radiant heat in the room even though the room air temperature is kept lower. This savings from lower air temperatures can be significant.  For example, a 5ºF to 8ºF reduction in air temperature can mean an additional 8% to 10% energy savings.
